Inception Meeting of the Capacity Building for BioTrade (CBBT) Project

Under the Capacity Building for Biotrade Project (CBBT), the UNEP-UNCTAD Capacity Building Task Force on Trade, Environment and Development, in collaboration with the GTZ office in Peru and the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR), is organising a series of events the 20-21 of September 2010 in Lima, Peru. The three separate events will bring together stakeholders from different backgrounds to discuss the business of biotrade and related policy and donor support. These events correspond with the PeruNatura Fair at Expoalimentaria, which will take place later in the week, on 22-24 September 2010.

On 30th of November and 1st of December 2009, Grow Organic - Africa (GOA) with the financial support of UNEP-UNCTAD CBTF and the Belgian Technical Cooperation organized a two-day Rwandan organic stakeholder workshop on the organic action plan of the country.

The workshop was held at the Urumuli hotel in Gicumbi, Rwanda and was attended by 31participants from the public and private sector. At the meeting, stakeholders were informed of the status of organic initiatives in Rwanda and cooperation among the different initiatives were increased. In addition, a draft organic action plan was developed for the country. The participants appointed a committee of five people who will finalize the plan and seek acceptance from the relevant ministries and agencies.
