Tanzanian Regional Stakeholder Meetings

Two regional stakeholder meetings were organized by the Tanzanian Organic Agriculture Movement (TOAM) with financial support from the UNEP-UNCTAD CBTF. They were held in June and September 2009. In each meeting, relevant stakeholders from two of the four regions of the country (Morogoro, Tanga, Dodoma, and the Costal region) were present. The purpose of the two regional meetings was to raise the interest of the districts in supporting organic agriculture by including it into their District Agricultural Development Programmes. As a follow-up, UNEP-UNCTAD CBTF is also funding the meetings of a task force so as to include findings of the national and regional meetings into the action plan for the implementation of the NOADP. The first meeting was held on December 5, 2009 and the second task force meeting is scheduled for the 23rd of December 2009.
