Sub-Regional Seminar on Trade, Environment and Development for Portuguese Speaking African Developing Countries Angola – Cabo Verde – Guinea Bissau - Mozambique – São Tomé
Angola, 08 November 2004
The objective of this sub-regional seminar was to strengthen awareness of trade, environment and development linkages. A broad range of complex and crosscutting issues of key interest to the sub-region were presented and discussed during the seminar. The seminar represented follow-up training in response to needs expressed at a national CBTF workshop in Angola in May 2003.
Around 60-70 people from Angola participated in the seminar. Two participants (one official from the Ministry of Trade and Industry and one official from the Ministry of the Environment) from Cape Verde, Mozambique and São Tomé and Principe also participated in the seminar.
The seminar resulted in a number of recommendations for activities that could be supported by CBTF, including annual trade, environment and development seminars for African Countries with Portuguese as the Official Language (PALOPs), and preparation and delivery of specific training courses on selected priority issues in the context of CBTF and the UNCTAD TrainforTrade programme.
The CBTF is very grateful to the Swedish government for funds provided
