Workshop on Trade and Environment for Policymakers: Barriers to Trading Biodiversity-based Products
Lima, Peru, 20 Sept 2010
Under the Capacity Building for Biotrade Project (CBBT), the UNEP-UNCTAD Capacity Building Task Force on Trade, Environment and Development, in collaboration with the GTZ office in Peru and the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR), organised a series of events on the 20-21 September 2010 in Lima, Peru. The three separate events brought together stakeholders from different backgrounds to discuss the business of biotrade and related policy and donor support. These events corresponded with the PeruNatura Fair at Expoalimentaria, which took place later in the week, on 22-24 September 2010.
Scheduled for the afternoon of 20th September (15:00 – 17:30) was the Workshop on Trade and Environment for Policymakers: Barriers to Trading Biodiversity-based Products.
This workshop was designed for cross-fertilization of experiences between the participants from Peru, Namibia and Nepal to understand how biodiversity and biotrade relate to public policy and economic development in other countries and highlighted best practices and lessons learned in integrating biodiversity concerns into trade and environment policies.
